Gerard Gonda

Former Benedictine High School President Fr. Gerard Gonda

A graduate of John Carroll University with a bachelor of arts in English, Fr. Gerard Gonda was ordained a priest in 1980. He joined the faculty of Benedictine High School, where he taught English and theology and served as academic dean, admissions director, alumni moderator, and Student Council moderator. After serving as principal of the school from 1999 to 2005, Fr. Gerard Gonda was president of Benedictine High School from 2008 to 2017.

Fr. Gerard’s continuing education includes a master of arts in educational administration from Bowling Green State University and a graduate degree in liturgical studies from Notre Dame University. In addition to his work with Benedictine High School, Fr. Gerard has spoken to parishes and student groups throughout Cleveland and across the country about Catholic spirituality. He is also active in Slovak-American fraternal organizations in the United States.

Since 2018, Fr. Gerard Gonda has been editor of the Ora et Labora magazine and handled donor relations for the high school. In 2023, he received a trophy at the school’s annual Honors Assembly that recognized his 45 years of service.
